Set sail for wellness

Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks is calling all hands deck for a day of fun, vitality and well-being at the 2024 Cabarrus County Senior Health and Wellness Expo.

Prepare to Cruise into Wellness and celebrate the rejuvenating Mediterranean lifestyle, which promotes balanced living through diet, physical activity and strong social connections. 

The voyage departs from the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center (4751 NC Highway 49 N, Concord, NC) on March 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Attendees will receive a passport which will be their guide to a day full of activities, resources and camaraderie.

“We are thrilled to invite residents from across Cabarrus County and beyond to join us for a day of exploration and rejuvenation,” says Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks Wellness Supervisor Gail Brindell. “This year’s Expo promises to be a fantastic opportunity to prioritize your health and well-being, learn something new, enjoy some entertainment or simply connect with friends and neighbors.”

The free journey to a healthier you features door prizes, free health screenings, exercise demos, lunch, entertainment, over 100 exhibitors, medication disposal, educational sessions and vaccinations.

Anyone interested in receiving a pneumonia or shingles vaccination can register online for an appointment slot at Schedule Appointment with Moose Pharmacy Online Scheduling Assistant (acuityscheduling.com). FLU and COVID vaccines do not require registration. All vaccinations are courtesy of Moose Pharmacy. 

Event organizers also want to ensure attendees are CarFit, which is a program designed to help older drivers determine how well they currently fit their personal vehicle. The program was developed by AAA, AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association and helps highlight information and resources to improve safety in the driver’s seat. During the Expo, trained experts will show attendees how to enhance comfort, safety and fit within their vehicles.
