Insurance

The Risk and Safety Department protects the County's financial integrity through a strategic blend of commercial insurance and self-insurance. The department is tasked with procuring and administering all insurance related to County operations and property. Additionally, Risk and Safety oversees claims management, loss prevention and collaborates with brokers and carriers to optimize coverage terms and premiums.

Risk and Safety coordinates with Procurement, Legal and Department Heads to review contracts and certificates for appropriate levels of insurance coverage based on the services or operations provided or conducted by third parties.

Example Certificate of Insurance (COI): For most operations, the example certificate of insurance below will be acceptable when completed with business insurance information for the project or contract. Required insurance coverages may change depending on the scope of work. Risk and Safety may increase, waive or reduce insurance requirements accordingly. For more information, contact the county department overseeing project approval.
