Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners Work Session Discussion (9/8/26)
On September 17, Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger announced the creation of a Senate Select Committee on Property Tax Reform, similar to the one previously formed by the NC House of Representatives. The press release says the committee’s work will build on property tax legislation the Senate has already worked on this year, including a Truth in Taxation bill that passed the Senate but was not taken up by the House. No information was provided about when the committee will first meet, what exactly it will take up, what its meeting frequency will be or whether it will work in conjunction with its House counterpart. NC Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) staff will engage the new committee membership and ensure county voices are heard.
