County facilities closed Monday, January 26
Published on January 25, 2026
Due to the impacts of the winter storm, all Cabarrus County facilities will close on Monday (January 26).
The closures impact all Active Living and Parks and Library System locations, programs and services in addition to the Governmental Center, Social Services locations, Transportation services, Construction and Demolition Landfill, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Human Services Center, Veterans Services Office and Board of Elections Office.
Some employees are working remotely. If assistance is needed, don’t hesitate to reach out via email or leave a voicemail and your call will be returned.
While offices are closed, DSS Child and Adult Protective Services will continue essential operations, along with all County public safety departments.
Emergency shelter remains open for service
Operations will continue for the emergency shelter at the Concord Active Living Center (formerly the Concord Senior Center) at 331 Corban Ave. SE in Concord.
Admission is first-come, first-served and limited space is available.
The shelter opened Saturday night following a State of Emergency declaration earlier in the day, which allowed Cabarrus County and municipalities to adjust staffing and services, deploy emergency resources and take other necessary actions to protect lives and property. Learn more about shelter operations at www.cabarruscounty.us.
Information hotline established
Also on Saturday, County officials activated an information hotline to provide updates to the community. Residents can call 704-920-COLD (2653) to hear recorded messages with information about shelters and other storm-related matters. The line will be updated as new developments occur.
Stay updated by following the communication channels for the County and local cities and towns. Residents can also register to receive emergency alerts for real-time emergencies and weather notifications. Alerts can be delivered by text, email or phone. Register at www.cabcoalert.org.
