Cabarrus County Commissioners will hold their monthly Regular Meeting on July 21 at the Cabarrus County Government Center in downtown Concord. Note that is a Tuesday.
Commissioners will vote on a variety of matters discussed at the July 6 Work Session.
During that meeting, the board:
Discussed General Obligation (GO) Bond Orders for various public school projects. The board will hold a public hearing on two different bond orders. The first order totals $340 million for CCS and KCS. The second is $60 million for Rowan Cabarrus Community College projects. Heard from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Chief Jimmy Lentz on grant funding. EMS was awarded $298,158 from the North Carolina Rural Health Transformation Program, which ensures that rural residents have greater access to health services and support. Upon approval, the funding would support the creation of a captain position for the EMS Community Paramedic program. Community paramedics provide physical and mental wellness through preventive and primary care outside emergency situations. The grant funding is on a 5-year cycle that requires a yearly application.
Heard from Social Services Program Administrator Robert Cox on programs related to the annual Energy Program Outreach Plan (EPOP). That plan outlines measures taken to ensure that eligible households know about energy programs such as Low-Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP) and the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP). LIEAP provides eligible households with a one-time payment to their energy vendor to offset high winter costs. The CIP helps low-income households in a heating or cooling crisis. Approval of the plan is required by state law.
The July Regular Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday July 21 at 6 p.m. at the Cabarrus County Government Center in downtown Concord.
Also during the meeting, the board will hear a proclamation for Child Support Awareness Month. This past year, Cabarrus County Child Support met all federal incentive goals for the sixth consecutive year, collecting more than $13.5 million in child support payments.
