Residential Waste

Residents of Cabarrus may bring household and yard waste to the Construction & Demolition Waste Landfill on Irish Potato Road in Concord. Fees are charged, depending on the amount and type of waste. Currently only credit and debit cards are accepted - no cash. No residential waste in trailers over 8 feet in length or in box trucks is accepted. No house or rental house cleanouts are accepted. Make sure any small, loose trash is bagged. 

Current Fee Schedule

Household/yard waste (Per-Load)

  • Up to 5 (32) gallon bags: $6*
  • 6 to 10 (32) gallon bags: $9
  • Pickup or trailer up to 8-foot in length: $15
  • Pickup or trailer w/sideboards loaded over 20 inches: $24
  • Small Waste Must be Bagged
  • No Household Waste Accepted in Trailers Over 8 Feet in Length or in Boxtrucks

*Receive a $5 credit for bringing recyclable materials. Bring two grocery bags of recyclable material per load of the following:

  • Glass - bottles and jars only
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Household paper (newspaper, magazines, junk mail, cereal boxes, etc.)
  • Plastic - bottles, jugs and jars only
  • Cardboard (does not need to be bagged)

Items with no drop-off charge

  • Christmas trees can be recycled at no charge during January
  • Scrap metal and appliances. All grades of scrap metal (no sealed containers or gas cylinders). Appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, washers, furnaces, A/C units. Small kitchen appliances like microwaves, blenders, toasters, etc.
  • Power lawn equipment - mowers, edgers, etc. drained of all gasoline and oil
  • Used tires – tires delivered by County residents are accepted in loads of five tires or less at NO CHARGE. Tires from commercial establishments must be delivered to US Tire Recycling. They are located on Poplar Tent Road per N.C.G.S. 130A-309.58.
  • Electronics DO NOT have a fee. This includes computers, printers, stereos, cameras, cell phones, TVs and computer monitors . Electronics get dropped off on scheduled collection days or by appointment at the:
    • County Construction & Demolition Waste Landfill, 4441 Irish Potato Road, Concord
    • Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 246 General Services Drive, Concord

County residents who live in unincorporated areas may choose to subscribe to curbside waste and recycling services with Republic/Allied Services (BFI). To subscribe, call Republic/Allied at 704-393-6900.
