Extra Federal Food Benefits Due to COVID-19 Will End in March
Households that have been receiving extra FNS benefits (called "emergency allotments") each month since March 2020 or after will see a reduction in benefits in March 2023 because of a federal change that ends emergency allotments for all states. North Carolinians in need of additional food assistance can learn more about additional food and nutrition resources. Residents can apply for FNS benefits online with ePass or by filling out a paper application and mailing it to or dropping it off at their county Social Services Department.

How can people in NC apply for Food and Nutrition Services?
There are three ways to apply for Food and Nutrition Services (Food Stamps):
- Apply online with ePass
- Apply in person at your Human Services (DHS) office. It helps to fill out as much of the application as possible ahead of time.
- Fill out a paper application(PDF, 689KB) and mail to or drop off at your county DHS office.

LunchPlus Club
The LunchPlus Club is more than a nutritious meal. It's a Wellness Program to engage participants socially, physically and mentally. The Club provides a variety of fun, exercise and educational activities. For participant convenience, six locations throughout Cabarrus County are available:
- Concord
- Midland
- Harrisburg
- Kannapolis
- Mt. Pleasant
- Northwest Cabarrus
Cabarrus County residents ages 60 and above can participate in the LunchPlus program . It provides an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy companionship. Volunteer opportunities are available. It is a fun and engaging way to contribute your time and talents.
Depending upon location, transportation is available through Cabarrus Transportation Services.
