Zoning and Planning

The Planning and Zoning department regulates how land can be used within a specific geographic area. This department dictates:

  • what types of buildings can be constructed
  • what types of activities can occur on a property
  • how land can be developed

Cabarrus County is divided in 7 Zoning Jurisdictions:

GIS Mapping System

The GIS Mapping System allows property records to be searched by:

  • owner name
  • address
  • Parcel Identification Number (PIN)

Basic information about a property shows in the property data display. Scroll to the bottom of this display for jurisdiction and zoning information. Data can also be accessed through the explore data link at the top of the screen. Toggle the radio buttons on and off to show or hide data.
