'Color Our World' with Cabarrus libraries this summer
Published on May 06, 2025
Beginning June 2, the Cabarrus County Public Library System will celebrate art, creativity and self-expression with this year’s Summer Reading Program. Through the “Color Our World” theme, residents of all ages are invited to attend engaging events and explore activities at their local library branch.
Participants can log reading time and complete badges through August 15. Library events will run through August 2 with a wide variety of literary and creative activities, including visits from local artists and performing arts presenters.
“I think our staff has really embraced this year’s theme and made it special," said Chrystopher Lytal, the Library System’s marketing and communications coordinator. "They’ve come up with so many great ideas for arts and crafts programs. We look forward to creating art and celebrating our patrons’ self-expression.”
In addition to activities, prizes are available for participants of all ages.
Through the free Beanstack app or website, participants can track their reading and take part in challenges from a mobile device. The app allows users to:
- Scan barcodes to quickly add titles to reading logs
- Track total minutes read with timed reading sessions
- View personal reading statistics and complete related activities
This year’s challenge allows participants to complete the program by logging reading time or by combining reading with activities. Prizes are available at difference stages throughout the challenge.
In the 2024 Summer Reading Program, a total of 2,949 participants logged a collective 2,464,293 minutes of reading and completed 3,977 activities.
To participate, visit any Cabarrus County Public Library branch (Concord, Midland, Mt. Pleasant, Harrisburg, Afton or Kannapolis) to register for a free library card or update your existing one. Then sign up for a Beanstack account at cabarruscounty.beanstack.com/reader365.
