Cabarrus celebrates 25 years of healthy living

As Active Living and Parks Commission member Myra Baumgardner says, “We don’t stop having fun when we get old. We get old when we stop having fun.”
And if you are looking for fun, the Active Living and Wellness Expo is your destination.
Presented by Cabarrus County Active Living and Parks and Devoted Health, the Expo celebrates its silver anniversary on Wednesday, March 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center.
For a quarter century, the event has brought the community together to focus on health, wellness and staying active.
Attendees can enjoy several longtime favorites, including free lunch, free door prizes and swag from more than 100 vendors, along with free entertainment and health and wellness demonstrations.
Two additional features return this year:
CarFit offers a free drive-through experience that helps ensure drivers are properly fitted for their vehicles to ensure safety and comfort. Appointments last about 15 to 20 minutes and must be scheduled in advance at www.cabarruscounty.us/register.
A Shred-it truck will also be onsite to provide a safe and free way to dispose of old tax forms, medical records and other sensitive documents. The truck will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., beginning one hour before the Expo starts. There is no limit on how many documents attendees can bring.
As the Expo celebrates 25 years of promoting healthy and active lifestyles, this year’s theme centers on all things silver to reflect “decades strong.” Attendees are encouraged to dress on theme with something silver, shiny or sparkly.
The event is open to adults ages 18 and older.
