Cabarrus County Government active living centers, parks and library branches will be closed on Saturday (January 31) due to the forecast of heavy snow. A decision on Sunday park hours will be made at a later time.

The Cabarrus County Construction and Demolition Landfill is also closed Saturday.

Cabarrus is currently under a winter weather warning and extreme cold warning. County officials urge residents to be prepared to stay home and off the roads if at all possible.

Currently, a warming center is open at Hell Fighters of Concord Mission at The Cross, located at 590 N. Church St. in Concord. The site is open 24 hours a day, beginning Friday night (January 30) and continuing through Monday morning (February 2). Cabarrus County is supporting the Hell Fighters center with donations of food and drinks and will continue to monitor capacity at that location.

Due to rapidly changing conditions, an information hotline is available to provide current information about local shelters and warming centers. Residents can call 704-920-COLD (2653) to hear recorded updates.
