Cabarrus County’s Communications and Outreach team earned recognition in the North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) 2025 Excellence in Communications Awards.

Cabarrus received three first-place honors, including:

  • Special Video Programming for a feature on Cabarrus County EMS Paramedic’s battle with addiction
  • Audio/Podcast for Did Y’all Hear? A Cabarrus County podcast
  • Special Event for the Brews + Bites + Budget session held at Southern Strain Brewing

The County also earned two second-place awards for the CabConnect newsletter and the FY25 Annual Report, titled “Powered by Our People.”

"This team truly delivers and I’m extremely proud of the work they do,” said Communications and Outreach Director Jonathan Weaver. "From videos and podcasts to events to print and digital publications, we work hard to find diverse ways to connect with the community. It's especially great knowing that such a wide variety of initiatives, and each member of the department, received recognition this year.”

The awards were announced on April 10, 2025, during NC3C’s annual conference in Asheville. Nearly 180 award program entries from 47 different local government organizations were judged by professional communications peers from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators.

The Communications and Outreach team uses digital platforms, multimedia storytelling and community-focused programming to set a standard for excellence in informing and engaging the community.
