2025 Municipal Election: Voting in CabCo
Published on September 16, 2025
Election Day 2025 is Tuesday, November 4 and Cabarrus County is urging voters to stay aware of important dates and information leading up to the big day.
The upcoming election will give voters the opportunity to decide key local races that shape their communities.
“Municipal elections often see lower turnout than state or federal contests,” says Board of Elections Director Carol Soles. “However, these races play a crucial role in determining local leadership and policies that affect day-to-day life.”
Voters are encouraged to visit cabarruscounty.us/elections to find sample ballots, check voter registration information, confirm polling locations and more.
Casting your ballot
As always, North Carolina voters have three main options for voting: mail-in absentee, in-person during the early voting period and in-person on Election Day.
Early voting begins on Thursday, October 16, at the Board of Elections Office (369 Church St. N, Concord).
Dates and times are:
- Thursday, October 16 through Friday, October 17, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Monday, October 27 through Friday, October 31, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday, November 1, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
You may change your name or address at any early voting site. Unregistered early voters enjoy a special provision, which allows them to register on the day they early vote. Registration is not available on Election Day.
Registered voters may request, receive and vote a mail-in absentee ballot. Visit https://www.ncsbe.gov/voting/vote-mail to learn more and request an absentee ballot by October 21 at 5 p.m.
Registering to vote
Outside of same-day registration at an early voting site, North Carolina offers two primary ways to register: online or in person at the DMV or by mail. Learn more at www.ncsbe.gov/registering/how-register.
Bring ID
North Carolina voters must show a photo ID when voting in-person and by mail. If a Cabarrus voter does not have an acceptable photo ID, they can get one free from the Board of Elections office (369 Church St. N, Concord). Visit www.ncsbe.gov/voting/voter-id to learn more, including a rundown of acceptable photo IDs.
