WEATHER UPDATES-FEATURED (10).png

Due to historic snowfall this weekend, all Cabarrus County facilities will be closed on Monday (Feb. 2).

The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners Work Session will continue as scheduled, beginning at 5 p.m.

Monday’s closures include all Active Living and Parks and Library System locations, in addition to the Governmental Center, Social Services locations, Transportation services, Construction and Demolition Landfill, Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Human Services Center, Veterans Services Office and Board of Elections Office.

Some County employees are working remotely. If assistance is needed, residents are encouraged to contact staff by email or leave a voicemail; messages will be returned as soon as possible.

While offices are closed, DSS Child and Adult Protective Services will continue essential operations, along with all County public safety departments.

Residents can watch the Board of Commissioners meeting live from the homepage at cabarruscounty.us or YouTube (@CabarrusCounty). Meetings also air on CabCoTV (Spectrum Cable Channel 22).

Warming center open

A warming center is open at Hell Fighters of Concord Mission at the Cross, located at 590 N. Church St. in Concord. Visit the center’s Facebook page for updated information. Cabarrus County Emergency Management is monitoring shelter capacity during this period of extreme cold weather and is providing donations of food and beverages.

Shelter information hotline remains available

Also on Saturday, County officials activated an information hotline to provide updates to the community. Residents can call 704-920-COLD (2653) to hear recorded messages with information about shelters and warming centers. The line will be updated as new developments occur.

Stay updated by following the communication channels for the County and local cities and towns. Residents can also register to receive emergency alerts for real-time emergencies and weather notifications. Alerts can be delivered by text, email or phone. Register at cabcoalert.org.
