Facilities Design & Construction

The Director of Design and Construction is solely responsible for the program's operations. They plan, design and manage all County-related construction projects. They also manage many of the County’s building improvement and deferred maintenance projects.

As the central point of contact for the County, they form productive relationships with architects, contractors, surveyors and engineers to facilitate planning, programming and design processes.

On a typical day, they perform skilled work in contracting and procurement; budget planning; programming; contractor onboarding and scheduling; design; permitting; cost estimation; and construction management.

They research and analyze data so that customers (teams who will provide services in the facility), County management and the Board of Commissioners can make informed, data-based decisions.

The community can learn about their work and participate in the process by following regular construction progress updates at Board of Commissioners meetings. Follow the County’s communications channels to learn about public input opportunities ahead of future design decisions.
