Emergency Management and Fire Services Director
Jason Burnett began his career with Cabarrus in August 2007 as an Assistant Fire Marshal. In July 2016, he transitioned to the role of Emergency Management Planner and was promoted to Emergency Management Director in March 2023.
Roles and Responsibilities
As Director, Jason oversees both the Emergency Management and Fire Services divisions. This includes:
- Emergency Management operations and planning
- Fire Services coordination
- Fire Marshal’s Office
- Squad 410 - supplemental staff to support local volunteer and combination fire departments
Jason also works to address developing emergency management and fire service needs. He's facilitating strong partnerships with local agencies and stakeholders. These relationships are vital to ensuring an effective response during incidents.
Professional Involvement
Jason is actively involved in several professional organizations, including:
- North Carolina Emergency Management Association (Chair, Constitution and By-Laws Committee)
- International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM)
- North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs
- North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association
Community Involvement
Jason serves as Fire Chief and Secretary to the Board of Directors for South Salisbury Fire. This Department is a combination fire department supporting the local community.
