VIDEO: Happening in Cabarrus This Week, May 6

May 7, 2018 --CTW visits Rob Wallace Park in Midland to take in a memorial dedication in honor of the late Mayor Kathy Kitts. Mayor Kitts died June 17, 2017 after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.

As a nod to her legacy of caring, Cabarrus County, the Town of Midland and Carolinas Medical Center, NorthEast dedicated a butterfly garden in her name. The Mayor Kathy Kitts Memorial Butterfly Garden is a serene space overlooking the pond and playground at Wallace Park.

Rows of vibrant flowers give the landscape personality and a benches offer tired feet respite from the walking trails.

Mayor Kitts served four years on Town Council and was in her second term as Mayor. Her focus on serving the people of Midland was the catalyst for the creation of the butterfly garden.

Rob Wallace Park is open seven days a week from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
