VIDEO: Happening in Cabarrus This Week, June 4

June 4, 2018 --CTW preps for summer fun at the Concord Branch of the Library, where many of the Summer Reading Program activities keep you entertained during your vacation days.

The Summer Reading Program is June 8-August 11 and encourages reading, education and retention through cool programs, entertaining performers, and family events around a centralized theme. The theme for 2018 is Libraries Rock!

Libraries are more than books and quiet time. This summer, our branches get rocking with musical adventures. Join in on The Journey of the Drum as special guest Chris Thompson and the Cultural Ensemble march you through the history of percussion.

Of course, there’s more than one way to rock. For Those about to Rock takes an in-depth look at the rock cycle, including an experiment with erosion, explosions and compaction.

Performances by jugglers, snake handlers, dancers and drummers keep the summer sliding by.

Any Cabarrus County resident can participate. Simply pick up a log at any branch of the library to track your progress and win prizes throughout the two-month program.
