Timeline extended for intersection closure in downtown Concord

Complications related to a stormwater project have extended the closure at the corner of Spring Street and Corban Avenue in downtown Concord. Though the intersection is closed to through-traffic until August 20, business still have access to the area.

The work is associated with the construction of the County’s new 614-spot downtown parking deck, on the corner of Corban Avenue SW at Spring Street SW, across from the Cabarrus County Courthouse. The project will help address parking demands for courthouse activities.

During construction, which is expected to last through March 2019, courthouse visitors are encouraged to park in the County’s Surface Parking Lot 2 (located next to Fifth Third Bank, between Church Street and McCachern Boulevard).

Cabarrus County awarded construction of the parking deck project to Messer Construction Company. Morris Berg Architects and project engineers Kimley-Horn completed the design and will provide construction administration of the project.
