Downtown Concord intersection re-opened following repair

With stormwater system repairs complete, officials on Thursday re-opened the intersection of Spring Street SW and Corban Avenue SW in downtown Concord.

The intersection was temporarily closed to through-traffic while the repairs were made.

The work is associated with the construction of the County’s new 614-spot downtown parking deck on the corner of Corban and Spring, across from the Cabarrus County Courthouse. The project addresses increased parking demands for courthouse activities.

Construction is expected to last through March 2019, and until then courthouse visitors are encouraged to park in the County’s Surface Parking Lot 2 next to Fifth Third Bank, between Church Street and McCachern Boulevard.

Cabarrus County awarded construction of the parking deck to Messer Construction Company.Morris Berg Architects and engineers Kimley-Horn completed the design and are providing construction administration on the project.
