Cabarrus This Week--August 26

CTW is learning about a 12-week pilot program to promote the importance of physical activity after a cancer diagnosis. Livestrong at the YMCA begins September 18. Atrium Health and the West Cabarrus Branch of the YMCA will work with cancer survivors to customize exercise regimens catered to their individual needs.

Exercise and physical activity can help cancer survivors maintain and improve their quality of life. During cancer treatment, exercise can manage side effects such as fatigue, nausea and depression.  Exercise has shown to prevent the recurrence of some cancers. The Livestrong at the YMCA program not only aligns with the YMCA’s mission of improving the health of our community, but also strengthens the wellness foundation within the health community.

The West Cabarrus YMCA is located in Afton Village at 5325 Langford Avenue andis open Monday – Friday, 5 a.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday,1 – 6 p.m.
