Arm yourself against the flu


Sept. 27, 2013 -- There are several opportunities to participate in flu shot clinics at Cabarrus County locations in the coming weeks.



Veterans can take part in a free, walk-in flu shot clinic on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m.-noon in the multipurpose room (Room 230) of the Cabarrus County Government Center, 65 Church Street SE in Concord. The shots are provided by the Salisbury VA Medical Center. To receive a flu shot, you must present a DD214 or VA medical ID card and a photo ID.

The Cabarrus County Senior Center in Concord (331 Corban Ave.) will offer flu shot clinics for seniors on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m.-noon and Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 1-4 p.m. There is a $30 cost to participate in the clinics, payable by check or cash. Patients with Medicare Part B and BCBS insurance can present their insurance card at the time of service and get the shot at no cost. Walk-ins to the senior center clinics are accepted, but advance registration is preferred.
