CTW previews the upcoming Winterguard competition, Saturday, March 15, at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center

March 11, 2014 -- Northwest Cabarrus High and Northwest Cabarrus Middle School students are hard at work preparing for upcoming winterguard competitions.  Students gain self-esteem, strengthen work ethic and practice perseverance as they work together as a team.
Winter Guard International is a visual performing arts organization that hosts regional and national competitions for color guard (known as winter guard) and indoor percussion ensembles. It is called the Sport of the Arts because as it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Now entering its 37th year, the sport continues to evolve and grow, focusing on dance, the musicality of movement, layering of responsibility and artistic combinations of tricks. 
The Charlotte Regional Winterguard Competition is coming up Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arena. Ticket prices vary depending on seating location and event. Prelim tickets are $15, finals are $18, combination tickets are $28 and non-finalist backside seating is $5. There is also a $5 parking fee collected at the entrance.
