Nov. 27, 2013 — It took nearly seven decades of training to prepare Malli Plowman for the 2013 HollyDay Follies variety show. At 72, she enjoys performing as much as she did when she twirled across the dance floor at age three.
Plowman will join Cabarrus’ most talented older adults for the 5th Annual HollyDay Follies on Thursday, December 5, at 7 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant High School (700 Walker Road). The event is a fundraiser for the Cabarrus County Senior Games, a health and wellness program for seniors.
Each of the HollyDay Follies performers redefines active living. This year’s live show will feature more than 80 entertainers, ranging in age from late 50s to 80s, in 19 original acts. The sidesplitting routines, alluring dance numbers, touching songs and shocking surprises will bring the audience to their feet in amazement.
For more than 10 years, Plowman has actively participated in programs at the Cabarrus County Senior Center and will lead an ensemble of 10 dancers in a hypnotizing, hip shaking Hawaiian hula at the Follies—a class she teaches at the Senior Center.
“I enjoy the positivity and enthusiasm for healthy living and movement the Senior Center promotes,” said Plowman.
Support Plowman and the other HollyDay Follies performers as they showcase the sassy side of senior living. Discounted pre-sale tickets to the event, $5 for adults and $3 for children, are available at the Cabarrus County Senior Centers in Concord (331 Corban Avenue SE, Concord) and Mt. Pleasant (8615 Park Drive, Mt. Pleasant). Tickets are available for purchase at the door on the night of the performance, $6 for adults and $4 for children.
