March 14, 2013 — Caregiving is an incredibly challenging roll. The demands and responsibilities are daunting and caregivers often lose sight of their own lives in the process. Cabarrus County Department of Human Services is offering a free workshop designed to give caregivers important information, access to resources, and strategies to help manage situations and take care of themselves.
Local individuals caring for loved ones 60 years or older can participate in the free Cabarrus County Caregiver Camp, March 25-28, from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Cabarrus County Senior Center (331 Corban Avenue, Concord). The deadline to register is March 20.
At the camp, participants can learn helpful information within a comfortable, supportive environment. Topics include aging, respite and other community services and resources, estate and elder laws, behavioral and mental health, assistive technologies and the importance of caregiver self-care.
For more information, or to register for the Caregiver Camp, call 704-920-3490.
The program is funded by the Older Americans Act Family Caregiver Support Program and is offered in Cabarrus County at least twice a year.
