Highlights from the January 21 regular meeting of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
At the January 21 meeting:
The BOC recognized the Soil and Water Conservation District as 2014 Conservation Technical district of the Year, Fair staff for 2013 Fair awards
The BOC Adopted a proclamation in recognition of Black History Month
- Staff provided an update on NCFAST.
The Board approved consent items, including the Active Living and Parks (ALP) Matching Incentive grant request, ALP transfer of funds to purchase baseball mounds for tournament play at County parks, budget transfer of $45,217.86--the balance of RCCC Capital Reserve Funds, Filing Fees for 2014 candidates for Sheriff and County Commissioner, update to Interlocal Agreement for the establishment of the Regional Radio Advisory Council, public school building capital fund NC Education Lottery applications of $4,911,790, DSS application for 2014-15 Community Development Block Grant, Flowe Trust donation and related budget amendment, participation in the Cabarrus/Iredell/Rowan HOME Consortium and the December 2013 Refund and Release Report from the Tax Administration office.

Applications are being accepted for the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee (5 positions), Agricultural Advisory Board (3), Cardinal Innovations Healthcare Solutions Community Oversight Board (1), Concord Planning and Zoning Commission (1), Council for a Sustainable Local Economy (11), Food Policy Council (3), Home and Community Care Block Grant Committee (3), Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority (3), Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (2) and, Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee (7) Transportation Advisory Board (5) and Youth Council (6).

The FY2015 budget planning process will begin with the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners annual planning retreat, this Friday, Jan. 24, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 25, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in the multipurpose room on the second floor of the Government Center (65 Church Street SW, Concord.) At the retreat, Commissioners will discuss the FY2015 budget, receive County program updates and hear from organizations the County supports through the budget. The meeting will recess to continued discussion between the Board of Commissioners and the Cabarrus County Schools Board of Education on Thursday, January 30, from 4-6 p.m., also in the multipurpose room.
