Liz Poole is a lifelong resident of Cabarrus County – growing up in Concord and graduating from Concord High School. First elected to the Board of Commissioners in 2008, Poole has served terms as vice chair and chair. She previously served 10 years on the Board of Education, four of those as board chair.
Poole has great interest in building a sustainable community through local-based economic development and marketing of local food.
She is board liaison to the City of Concord and the Volunteer Fire Department Committee. She is also a member of the Cabarrus/Rowan Metropolitan Planning Organization, Centralina Workforce Development Board, Water and Sewer Authority of Cabarrus County, and the newly formed Work Ready Community Committee. She values public education as an integral part of a sustainable community. Career Development is her primary focus, especially connecting high school curriculum to employer needs.
Poole holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UNC Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Queens University, Charlotte NC. She and her husband, Mike Poole, raised two children, who both attended Appalachian State University.
