Brad Riley has served as the Sheriff since January, 2001, a little more than 10 years after first joining the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office.
Riley earned a bachelor’s degree in political science/public relations from Appalachian State University and received a master’s degree in adult education from NC A&T State University. He graduated from Concord High School.
Sheriff Riley received the Glen Mowery Law Enforcement Executive of the Year award in 2015, and currently serves on the executive committee of the National Sheriff’s Association. He also served as president of the N.C. Sheriff’s Association.
He was a member of the Cabarrus County Boys & Girls Club board of directors and now serves as a member of the corporation for the organization. Since 2010, he has served as the chairman of the N.C. Sheriff’s Education, Training and Standards Elected Commission.
He and his wife, Cindy, have two grown children. The Rileys are members of Concord First Assembly.
His interests include sports and spending time with his family.
