Who is Eligible?
Interested individuals should check with the Department of Human Services, the Department of Active Living and Parks or Transportation Services to determine if they are eligible.
The Department of Human Services has several different programs to assist the community and will cover the cost for their transportation. Medicaid will cover transportation to doctor appointments and pharmacy visits (for prescription pickups only). The Work First Family Assistance program will cover transportation to job searches and to work for a certain amount of time. There are many other programs available through the Department of Human Services. Contact the main line for assistance at 704-920-1400.
The Department of Active Living and Parks will assist clients that are over sixty years of age and are not receiving Medicaid. They will also cover the cost for transportation to doctor appointments and pharmacy visits (for prescription pickups only). The Lunch Plus Club program and monthly special events are also a part of their services. ADA Paratransit services for the Concord Kannapolis Area Transit (Rider) fixed-route bus system are provided by Cabarrus County Transportation Services. Please visit www.ckrider.com for information about this program. If you think you may be eligible for ADA Paratransit services, contact the CCTS Demand Response Center at 704-920-2246 or the Department of Human Services at 704-920-1400 to begin the application process.
The Rural General Purpose (RGP) program is available for all individuals living in the rural areas of Cabarrus County who do not qualify for transportation through any of the above programs or who need transportation within Cabarrus County to other destinations not covered by their specific program.
