The Gang Narcotics Division is a part of the CID with 4 investigators supervised by a sergeant. The mission of the Cabarrus County Gang Unit is to improve the quality of life in the community by identifying local street gangs, their memberships and associates, and by developing methods to lessen their impact on the community. Formed in 2005, the Gang Unit utilizes various strategies in their gang interdiction efforts, including preliminary and follow-up investigation, proactive and preventative information gathering, as well as education. They work closely with School Resource Officers, Probation Officers and other agencies in their efforts to combat the impact of criminal street gangs.
The Vice/Narcotics unit is responsible for collecting, archiving and disseminating narcotics-related intelligence for successful investigations and prosecutions. The goal is to reduce all criminal drug activity by effectively investigating and combating the importation of illegal substances into Cabarrus County; enhancing the quality of life for the citizens in our community.
