The Audit division assures effective management of the County’s financial assets by overseeing the internal control function and supporting the annual external audit of County finances.

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is an annual presentation of Cabarrus County's financial condition on June 30, the end of the county's fiscal year. A CAFR provides a statement of net assets, statement of activities, statement of revenues, expenditures and changes in fund balances, notes to the financial statements for the County along with individual fund statements. For 29 consecutive years, Cabarrus County has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.

Through the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014, the County’s bond ratings are AA+ (Fitch IBCA), Aa1 (Moody's Investor Services) and AA+ (Standard & Poors).
