The County Animal Response Team (CART) is a local group of people like you working together to protect our animals.
CART is under the jurisdiction of Cabarrus County Emergency Management and includes the following organizations and individuals: animal control officers, animal industry leaders, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department personnel, concerned citizens, members of Cooperative Extension, forest rangers and veterinarians.
Protect Your Animals! Make sure to keep a "Pet Emergency Kit" ready. Your kit should include two weeks worth of medication, along with your pet’s medical and vaccination records, a leash, collar, identification, water, food, toys and bedding. Make sure your pet has a form of permanent identification like a microchip. Purchase a pet carrier and label it with emergency contact information. Planning resources for large animals and farmers are available at State Animal Response Team (SART).
How You Can Help Join Us! Contact us at (704) 920-2143 to find out how to become a CART volunteer. We need people with all types of skills and resources. You can also contribute financially to support our training and response efforts.
