On Friday, May 4, the public is invited to show their appreciation of our local law enforcement officers and commemorate the development of law in the United States at a special Law Day and Peace Officers Memorial ceremony at 10:45 a.m. in the Cabarrus County Government Center (65 Church Street, Concord).
The ceremony is a long-standing tradition in Cabarrus County that is representative of national celebrations dedicated to the officers of and ties between written law and the pursuit of order.
At the ceremony, a deserving veteran law enforcement officer will receive the Robert Jackson Eury Memorial Award in memory of the deputy sheriff killed in the line of duty in 1972. The Cabarrus County Bar Association will also honor a local member with the Liberty Bell Award for their work to promote better understanding of and encourage greater respect for law and the courts.
To conclude the ceremony, attendees will recognize the local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty in Cabarrus County and their families at the Cabarrus County Law Enforcement Memorial, just outside the Government Center.
A lunch will follow on the 7th floor of the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.
