Vietnam Veterans Park

Vietnam Veterans Pak Playground

This 90-acre park offers a relaxing place to get away and is perfect for more passive recreational pursuits. The park opened in 2002 as the result of a cooperative effort among Cabarrus County, the City of Kannapolis and the Church of God Children’s Home. The City of Kannapolis and the Church of God leased the land to Cabarrus County to build and maintain the park.

Developed to compliment the area’s natural beauty, this park will undergo six phases of development before final completion. Features of this serene park include playgrounds, four picnic shelters, picnic sites, volleyball court, two basketball courts, free-standing bench swings, horseshoe pits, a nine-hole disc golf course, a boardwalk, a 1.2 mile walking trail, bocce courts, a wetlands trail and a restroom building.

Additional phases include tennis courts, a mountain bike trail, a bridge across Irish Buffalo Creek, nine disc golf holes and additional trail mileage. The park is also located on the Carolina Thread Trail route between Kannapolis and Concord.

There are various nature and wildlife classes held throughout the year and the park hosts several community events year-round.
