Richard Koch has served as Cabarrus County Attorney since January of 2006. He has been a licensed attorney in NC since 1978.

He has a bachelor of science in commerce. Koch graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University in 1975. He earned his juris doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1978.

Koch was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review. He has a broad background in litigation and transactional legal work.

The County Attorney is also a part-time administrative law judge. This judgeship is for the NC Safety and Health Review Commission.
