Put an eye on 'The Edge'

artscouncilapril1.jpgApril 1, 2013 -- This week, we visited the Cabarrus Arts Council Galleries for the new exhibition, "The Edge." This exhibit, which features cutting-edge pieces and modern approaches, is on display through May 16 at The Galleries.

The exhibition includes paintings, pottery, glass, wood and mixed media by 15 artists. You will see abstract oil paintings, totems of hand-blown glass stones, large-scale narrative paintings, ceramic vessels, ballpoint pen drawings, science-based free form painting, over-sized coil pottery, wood sculptures and wood vessels and much more.

When you visit, volunteer docents are available to give you a tour and answer questions, or you may enjoy the exhibition on your own. If you have children with you (or just want to have some fun with the art yourself), make sure to ask for the “I Spy” artwork scavenger hunt.

Admission to The Galleries is free. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Galleries will be closed March 29-April 6. The Galleries are located within the historic Cabarrus County courthouse at 65 Union Street South in Concord. For more information, call 704-920-2787 or visit www.cabarrusartscouncil.org.
