Dec. 28, 2012 — At its Dec. 26 meeting, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners voted (4-1) to approve the bond of Melton Wayne Nixon, Jr., for register of deeds. Nixon will take office on Feb. 1 and serve the remainder of the four-year term.
Nixon began practicing law in Cabarrus County in 1978 and served as assistant district attorney through 1981. He is currently a general partner in the law firm of Koontz, Hawkins, Nixon and Miller.
Nixon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina State University. He received his law degree from Wake Forest University Law School and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1977.
