Local paramedic called to active duty

Paramedic Melinda Hamilton of Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has been called to active duty with the N.C. Army National Guard for a tour in Kuwait. Hamilton has been employed with Cabarrus EMS since 2008. She currently serves as a paramedic and recently completed the State Medical Assistance Team training (SMAT). 

Hamilton serves as a senior medical non-commissioned officer (NCO) with the N.C. Army National Guard as a 68W (combat medic) and is assigned to HHC 505th Combat Engineer Battalion. She currently holds the military rank of Staff Sergeant.

As the Senior NCO, she will be responsible for the training and oversight of the medical section while providing care to the injured. She recently completed the Tactical Combat Medical Care Course and the Medical Communication Combat Casualty Care Course.
