Dec. 19, 2013 — On Friday, December 20, there will be a lane closure as a result of demolition work at the former Cabarrus County Jail and Courthouse Annex. Crews will close the southbound right turn lane of Church Street, between Means Avenue SE and Corban Avenue SE, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The scope of the construction project includes demolition of the 1986 addition to the former Cabarrus County Jail and renovations to the Courthouse Annex and parking lot. The Annex renovation will add offices for courthouse security and Guardian Ad Litem, and secured file storage areas for the Clerk of Court and District Attorney offices. A secured parking area for judges, district attorneys and staff will be added adjacent to the Courthouse Annex.
