Tuesday, April 19 will be the last day to participate in extended hours at Cabarrus County Department of Social Services. The DSS offices on Cannon Boulevard in Kannapolis will be open until 6 pm that day.
These extended hours are dedicated solely to residents who need to apply for assistance such as food and nutrition services, formerly known as food stamps, Medicaid, child day care, crisis economic assistance and child support.
DSS began the extended hours pilot February 1 to will additional service access for working customers, who in the past have had to take time away from work to visit the agency. The pilot extended hours also were designed to better manage increased caseload for economic services, especially food stamp distribution.
However due to lack of response, DSS will discontinue these extended hours after April 19.
Clients can call DSS at 704-920-1400 during operating hours (Monday through Friday from 8 am until 5 pm) for additional information about services and programs or visit the Cabarrus County website at www.cabarruscounty.us/social.
