Jan. 16, 2013 — If you have ever wondered if the phrase “Age is just a number” is really true, then just drop by one of the Cabarrus County Senior Centers to find out. At the Senior Centers, you will find older adults – from Baby Boomers to those into their 90s – having fun and remaining very active. They come here to make friends, exercise, learn a new hobby, and keep their mind and body engaged.
We visited with one of the many fitness classes available. The Cabarrus County Senior Centers offer exercise classes such as yoga, tai chi, Pilates, aerobics, fitness and Zumba Gold. Dance classes include line dancing, ballroom, country two-step, hula, shag and more.
The Senior Centers also have a fitness center open to the public and classes for jewelry making, sign language and computers. They also offer regular workshops and resources on health-related topics and disease management. There are even weekly dances and themed events.
For more information about activities at the Cabarrus County Senior Centers, call the Concord location at 704-920-3484 or the Mt. Pleasant location at 704-436-2061, or visit the Senior Center webpage.
