3-2-1 Splashdown

Take an end-of-summer splash at Kannapolis' Village Park

Aug. 18, 2014 – Cabarrus This Week cooled off at the Village Park Splash Pad. The splash pad is an aquatic recreation area, offering endless combinations of interactive play through water that is sprayed, gushed, dumped and poured. It is designed for users of all age groups and abilities, there are separate areas for children ages five and younger, and those ages six through 12.

Although there are various types of play areas, water is still the main element of fun. Swimsuits and water shoes are encouraged. However, if desperate times call for desperate measures, street clothes are acceptable.

While here, take a ride on The Rotary Express Train. The charming replica is modeled after an authentic CP Huntington engine. The original CP Huntington was the first locomotive purchased by the Southern Pacific Railroad.

Splash pad hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays, 12-6 p.m. Weekday hours run through Friday, August 22, after which weekend availability begins. Both the splash pad and train continue weekends only: August 23-24, 30-31, and September 1, 6 and 7. The Rotary Express remains open on the weekends through October 5.

Splash pad admission and train rides can be purchased for $1 per person or ride. Punch cards can be purchased for multiple admissions. 10-visit punch cards cost $8.50 and 20 admission punch cards cost $16.
