Cabarrus County has leased approximately 15 acres of land at its construction & demolition landfill to Agromatters, LLC for the purpose of operating a compost facility. Agromatters is providing the labor and equipment to produce and market compost and mulch. Cabarrus County is providing the infrastructure and use of the landfill scalehouse for this operation. Cabarrus County will receive a portion of the compost and mulch produced as well as a percentage of the tipping fees for the incoming waste.
Agromatters is currently receiving yard waste at the facility, and producing compost and mulch from the yard waste. The mulch and compost will be available for sale to the public beginning Thursday, March 13. Sales will initially take place Monday through Friday from 8am until 4pm and on select Saturdays from 8am - 1pm.
Prices / Sales Dates and Hours
An application has been submitted to the NC Department of Environment & Natural Resources to produce compost from food waste. More information concerning this phase will be provided as it becomes available.
