Medical Director: Dr. Craig Corey, MD, FACEP

Craig CoreyDr. Corey has served as the Cabarrus Medical Director and a CMC-Northeast Medical Center Staff Emergency Physician since 1994. He began his career in emergency medicine as a paramedic in 1975 with Denver Paramedic Ambulance. He graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine and performed his residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. He has served appointments as Staff Emergency Physician, Chief of Emergency Department, Medical Director, and Educational Medical Advisor. He is currently Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and maintains involvement with Cabarrus EMS as Medical Director and Special Operations Response as well as the NDMS NC-1 Federal Disaster Team. Additionally, he served with the US Army. He works with several volunteer agencies, both locally and internationally. Dr. Corey spends his spare time with his family.

EMS Director: Col. David Hampton, EMT, EMT-T

David HamptonDavid Hampton has served as Cabarrus EMS Director since 2002. He began his career in Emergency Medical Service in 1973 before coming to Cabarrus County in 1981. He has served as a paramedic, tactical medic, training officer, and assistant director prior to his current assignment. He is a graduate of several administrative and technical education programs as well as the UNCC EMS Management Training Institute. He's responsible for developing the local tactical medic program and sharing information across the state with other programs in their initial phases. Additionally, he developed the local EMS Disaster Response Team (STORM) and has been instrumental in the development of protocols for on-track medical response at racing events at Charlotte Motor Speedway, serving as the first paramedic on the track. He also served with the US Army. David spends his spare time with his family and mountain biking.

EMS Assistant Director: Maj. Alan Thompson, NREMT-P, TEMS

Alan ThompsonAlan Thompson has served as Cabarrus EMS Assistant Director since 2005. He began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1985 before coming to Cabarrus EMS in 1990. He has served as a paramedic, relief supervisor, and supervisor prior to his current assignment. He is a graduate of Davidson Community College with an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science and has performed additional course work through Western Carolina University and Duke University. He is also a graduate of the UNCC EMS Management Training Institute. He currently serves as a tactical paramedic with a local police tactical team. He maintains instructor credentials with the NC Office of EMS, NC Emergency Management, NC Department of Insurance and a variety of other certification programs. He has maintained a strong presence in the area of education and advanced cardiac and stroke care. Additionally, he served with the US Army. He volunteers his time in several areas of the community. Alan spends his spare time with his family and running.

EMS Shift Supervisor: Capt. Bob Williams, NREMT-P

Bob WilliamsBob Williams has served as Cabarrus EMS Shift Supervisor since 2005. He began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1983 before coming to Cabarrus EMS in 1989. He has served as a paramedic and relief supervisor prior to his current assignment. He is a graduate of Davidson Community College with an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science. He has completed several administrative education programs and is a graduate of the UNCC EMS Management Training Institute. He maintains an active role in disaster planning and EMS education. He volunteers his time in several areas of the community. He spends his spare time with his family and in the outdoors.

EMS Shift Supervisor: Captain Jimmy Lentz, NREMT-P, TEMS

Jimmy Lentz has served as Cabarrus EMS Shift Supervisor since 2012. He began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1990 with Cabarrus EMS. He has served as a paramedic, field training officer, and relief supervisor prior to his current assignment. He currently serves as a tactical paramedic assigned to a local police tactical team. He is a graduate of Davidson Community College with an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science. He has completed several administrative educational programs and the UNCC EMS Management Training Institute. He maintains active involvement in the community and spends his spare time with his family.

EMS Shift Supervisor: Capt. Allison Smith, NREMT-P

Allison SmithAllison Smith has served as Cabarrus EMS Shift Supervisor since 2005. She began her career in Emergency Medical Services in 1984 prior to coming to Cabarrus EMS in 1985. She has served as a paramedic and relief supervisor prior to her current assignment. She is a graduate of the American College of Prehospital Medicine with an Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Science. Also, Allison is a graduate of the UNCC EMS Management Training Institute. She volunteers her time in several areas of the community. She spends her spare time with her family and in the outdoors.
