The proposed $204 million Cabarrus County budget for fiscal year 2012 (beginning July 1, 2011), maintains the property tax rate at 63-cents per $100 valuation and decreases spending by 8.56% compared to amended fiscal year 2011 general fund expenditures.
Close to half (½) of Cabarrus County’s annual budget is used to pay for public school education and school construction debt. That is more than is spent on public safety, human services, or any other budget category.
