Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates

A certified copy of a birth, marriage or death certificate, filed in Cabarrus County, is issued by the Register of Deeds office only to the proper person or immediate family members. You must have identification when obtaining certified copies. Effective May 1, 2007, marriage licenses will be issued from 8 am until 4:30 pm only.

North Carolina started keeping birth and death records in late 1913 and those copies can be found in this office. Marriages in Cabarrus County started when the county was formed in 1792. 1792 - 1856 marriage bonds are found in the Department of Archives and History in Raleigh. Indexes to those bonds are in the Register of Deeds office. Originals from 1856 to current are found in this office.

Certified copies to the proper person is $10 each. Uncertified copies by mail are $1.
