Free Health Screenings at Senior Health and Wellness Day
March 4, 2010 – Older adults and those interested in their care are invited to a free day of fun and health–related exhibits at the 10th Annual Senior Health and Wellness Day Wednesday, March 10 from 9:30 am until 2 pm. Older adults from across Cabarrus County are encouraged to come to the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center to participate in free health screenings, receive prescription drug assistance, learn about health care options and enjoy music and leisure activity demonstrations. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 am until 9:30 am and lunch will be served at noon. Both meals are free of charge.
Senior Health and Wellness Day, presented by the Cabarrus County Department of Aging and CMC–NorthEast, allows older adults and caregivers to learn more about aging services and discover ways to be more active. The event focuses on cardiovascular health, medication management and wellness, and includes screenings for cholesterol, glucose, stroke, blood pressure, dental, vision and more. Participants may bring their prescription drugs to have a pharmacist review them.
Event–goers also can enjoy a variety of entertainment throughout the day and enjoy live music and dancing. Many exhibitors will be on hand to address such issues as active living, mental health, health insurance, financial planning and much more. Plus, participants can register for door prizes.
Senior Health and Wellness Day will be held at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center located at the corner of Old Airport Road and NC Highway 49 in Concord. Admission and parking are free. For more information, call 704-920-3484.
