Help Foster Children and Enjoy Game with Kannapolis Intimidators

July 16, 2010 – Come out for a night of baseball and help honor and support those who help provide temporary care for children needing protection from abuse or neglect. A Foster Care Celebration will be held Sunday, July 25 at the Kannapolis Intimidators game at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.

The first 100 fans bringing new school supplies as donations to area foster children will receive a voucher for a free hot dog at the stadium. The Intimidators game begins at 5:05 pm with gates opening at 4 pm. The Foster Care Celebration will offer many activities for kids and fun for the whole family. The celebration is a joint partnership of the Kannapolis Intimidators, Cabarrus/Rowan Guardian Ad Litem, Cabarrus County Partnership for Children, and the Cabarrus and Rowan Departments of Social Services.

There is a continuing need for more foster parents to provide temporary care to children who are brought in to custody to protect them from abuse or neglect. Foster parents help a child deal with the struggles of abuse or neglect while providing a safe environment for the child. The goal of foster care is to reunify the child with their parents as soon as the issues can be resolved. Some foster parents have adopted children that have not been able to return to their parents.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent, please contact your local Department of Social Services. In Cabarrus County, please contact the Department of Social Services at 704-920-1400 or email them at info@cabarrusforchildren.org.
