Cause Determined in Four–Alarm Fire in Cabarrus County
January 8, 2010 – The Cabarrus County Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the January 4 house fire that damaged four homes on Bampton Drive in Cabarrus County.
In a report released today, officials state that the fire was accidentally caused by a space heater left unattended to thaw out pipes in a hot tub. The space heater was placed too close to combustible material. Two homes were a total loss. A third home sustained fire damage to one side, while a fourth home sustained heat damage.
Crews responded at 10:57 am Monday to a four–alarm fire at the 8400 block of Bampton Drive located in the Popular Woods Community in Cabarrus County. Some residents were home at the time, however no injuries were reported.
