Four–Alarm Fire on Bampton Drive Under Investigation

January 4, 2010 – Four homes are damaged in a four–alarm fire that started at 8402 Bampton Drive in Concord. Some residents were home at the time, however no injuries are reported. Several cats remain missing.

Wind and the close proximity of the homes caused the fire to spread to three other homes. Two homes are a total loss. A third home sustained fire damage to one side, while a fourth home has heat damage.

The 8400 block of Bampton Drive will remain closed to vehicle traffic for several hours while firefighters continue to treat hot spots and secure the homes.

The Cabarrus County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. A final report and confirmed cause of the fire is expected later this week.

A 911 call was received at 10:50 am with the first unit arriving at 10:57 am. Responding agencies are: Odell Volunteer Fire Department, Concord Fire Department, Harrisburg Fire Department, Mallard Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Huntersville Volunteer Fire Department, Cornelius Fire Department, Kannapolis Fire Department, Davidson Volunteer Fire Department, Cabarrus County Emergency Medical Service, Cabarrus Rescue Squad, Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, and Cabarrus County Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Cabarrus office of the American Red Cross is assisting one of the families whose home was damaged. For additional information about Red Cross assistance, call Nancy Litton at 704-720-7421.
